Oscar Avila has worked for more than 12 years on international consulting projects in Europe and Latin America. In Europe, he worked for the international consulting company CapGemini, where he served as a consultant and IT project and service manager in serveral industrial sectors such as: energy and utilities, defense, railway, automotive and agri-food. In Latin America he has worked as a consultant and IT analyst in sectors such as banking, distribution and state sector.

Oscar defended his PhD thesis on Business / IT alignment at the University of Strasbourg in 2009. He obtained a postdoctoral fellow in 2010 from the car industry to research on adaptation of IT process methods for modelling manufacturing processes. In addition, he holds an MSc in IT from the University of Technology of Troyes (2005) and a Computing engineering degree from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
